FAQs - Building Science
Building science thermography is the knowledge and understanding of where and how heat transfers and air flows throughout a building.  Thermography is one of the most valuable diagnostic tools for building efficiency.  A scan detects thermal defects such as heat loss and air leakage in building envelopes.   During a thermal scan, a specially designed infrared camera is used to take images called thermo grams that will show surface heat variations.  The camera measures surface temperatures by capturing light that is in the heat spectrum.  Images record the temperature variations of the building’s skin, ranging from white for warms regions to black for cooler areas.
